Thanks to the pupils of Dunbar Primary for decorating hundreds of paper plates with wonderfully cheery, bright designs. The plates are brightening up the ASDA store, Bleachingfield Centre and the Primary school.

Dunbar has won its Seaside Award again this year – thanks to a lot of hard work by volunteers and East Lothian Council! We get our flag in June and will raise it on the 2nd of that month…..then we’re off to see what we can collect on the beach. Come and join us

I have made comprehensive comments on the specific consultation questions and expressed a range of concerns about the proposals – sketchy though they are – first outlined in the Cabinet paper dated 29 March 2011. I have annotated a dynamic map with additional commentary and thoughts here:

In my view the TRO measures should contribute to 3 things:
a) High Street regeneration,
b) a modal shift to active or public transport, and last but not least
c) pedestrian and cycle safety.

Sustaining Dunbar want to make it easier and safer for everyone to walk and cycle. It has long been raised as an issue that the construction of the A1 as a trunk road in the 1960s severed existing rural roads that connected villages with the nearby coast and to Dunbar. The residents of these communities are effectively cut off and are obliged to use cars in order to cover what are short journeys; such as Innerwick to the coast at Barns Ness or Skateraw, or Meikle Pinkerton to Dunbar. A usable link across the A1 would also offer potential for circular leisure routes.
We are looking into how best to create safe walking and cycling routes to the town. The first step was to review of evidence from previous surveys to determine the level of support for creating new path routes to Dunbar and the Coast, from the villages to the south of the A1. This report is now available here.
Ideas for new/upgraded paths to Dunbar from the Lammermuir villages will be presented at a meeting of the East Lammermuir Community Council on 18th June at 7.30pm. Please come along or email eastlammermuir.chair@live.co.uk to find out more.

Kill SPAM or SPAM will kill us. Our servers quietly deal with a lot of the attacks targeted at weaknesses in the server, email, websites and individual blogs. But the sheer volume of attacks seems to be on the rise, so batting the stuff away keeps the system pretty active and affects performance. Hi to all our supporters, this is a reminder regarding our meeting coming up next week, Tuesday 21st May 7pm BeGreen office west port Dunbar
Jo is no longer Convenor as off end of April and we have not yet had a volunteer to chair the group, so please get in touch if anyone is interested in fulfilling this role for a while. We have agreed to try sharing both chairing and note-taking but ideally there would be one person to each role even if it rotated say 6 monthly or so, as an example.
The next meeting is a key meeting as the group needs to plan its aims, and goals and how it’ll implement them in order to fill out the renewal application forms for further Fairtrade status, so the more people and input the better! Be great to see you there.
